Vermont Avenue

Vermont Avenue is one of the longest running north/south streets in Los Angeles and Los Angeles County, California — with a length of .
==Route==
Located just west of the Harbor Freeway (I-110) for the major portion south of Downtown Los Angeles, it starts in Griffith Park at the Greek Theatre in the Los Feliz neighborhood as a one-lane divided road (it is known as ''Vermont Canyon Road'' north of this point). At the intersection with Los Feliz Boulevard, it widens to a two-lane road. Vermont Avenue passes to the east of the Barnsdall Art Park, and through intersections with Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard at the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. It is the eastern boundary of the East Hollywood district of Hollywood. It passes next through Little Armenia, and south of the Hollywood Freeway (US 101) it passes through Koreatown and crosses Wilshire Boulevard.
Vermont Avenue passes at the western end of the University of Southern California and Exposition Park in South Los Angeles. In August 2012, the City of Los Angeles designated a portion of Vermont Avenue in Pico-Union as the "El Salvador Community Corridor."〔Shyong, Frank (September 9, 2012) ("L.A. Salvadoran Community Sees Hope Along a New Corridor ) ''Los Angeles Times''〕
South of Gage Avenue, Vermont Avenue widens into a three-lane road with a wide median and adjacent frontage roads. At 88th Street, the road widens again with a tree-lined median and just north of Redondo Beach Boulevard, an abandoned railway runs through the middle. At this point, Vermont Ave. marks the eastern boundary of the City of Gardena. At 164th Street in Gardena, Vermont narrows to a two-lane thoroughfare, and it also marks the western end of the Gardena Freeway (SR 91). South of the San Diego Freeway (I-405), Vermont enters the unincorporated area of West Carson. Finally, at the intersection with the Pacific Coast Highway, Vermont curves to the southwest after traveling in a straight line for . It ends just north of San Pedro after it merges with Normandie Avenue (turning into Gaffey St.) at Anaheim Street at a five-point intersection. Vermont Avenue is the third longest of the north/south thoroughfares.
